1. What should I wear to church? Please feel free to wear what you are comfortable in. Most people dress business/casual. You may see some of our pastors or leaders wearing dress shirts and dress pants, but others prefer to wear jeans or kakis. Ladies will mostly wear dress pants and tops, but you will see some in dresses, skirts, or jeans, ranging from dressy to casual.
2. What time should I arrive? Greeters are at the door about 20 minutes before service begins, and remain at the door until after our opening song. This is the timeframe when most people will arrive, and should offer sufficient time for us to meet you and to find a seat.
3. Where should I park? As you turn into our parking lots from Hwy. B, you may use both the first entrance (front) or the second entrance (back). The back parking lot has ramp access and handicap parking available. We also have a row of parking along 3rd St.
4. How can I expect to be greeted when visiting? There are usually two greeters at our front entrance who will greet you at the door. Inside, there is a hostess at our Welcome Center who will give you a gift for visiting and a card to fill out so we can connect with you. Ushers are also available to assist you or help you find seating.
5. What kind of praise songs do you sing? We sing mostly contemporary praise and worship songs accompanied by various instruments, and may occasionally open with a hymn or more well-known chorus.
6. How long are your Sunday services? Our services typically last about 90 minutes.
7. Do you offer nursery or children's church? We offer children's church for ages 3-2nd grade on the first four Sundays of the month. Children stay in the sanctuary during praise and worship and are dismissed to children's church with their teachers just before the sermon.
8. How do I become a member of Northern Lights? We offer membership classes periodically throughout the year. Typically, people will attend several weeks or months and then enroll in our Membership Class. The Membership Class is a 12-week course answering many basic questions and offering a description of our church administration and functions. After this class, you may fill out an Application for Membership, after which you will receive a Certificate of Membership.
9. How do I get more involved? The best way to get involved and develop a sense of belonging to this local church body is to attend services and events. Our church offers fellowship meals approximately once a month. Helping at or attending these fellowship events is a convenient way to meet people. Attending small group gatherings, such as Sunday School, Wednesday Night Bible study, men's breakfasts, ladies Bible studies, is also a wonderful way to get to know other church members. We also encourage members to serve in some area of need in the church.
10. How do I give tithes and offerings? During Sunday morning services, we offer a chance to give during our offering. There is also a drop box by the office to give during the week. Many people prefer to give online through our website via the DONATE tab or the Tithe.ly phone app.
